LOS ANGELES — News reporter Chuck Taylor is in hot water after reporting on News 3 that Jamie Foxx slapped Kevin Hart at the 94th Academy Awards when it was actually Will Smith who struck Chris Rock.

“I’m really disappointed that I didn’t get at least one of them right,” admitted Taylor. “There are only six or seven African Americans in Hollywood, so I should definitely be doing better. I grew up watching Will in ‘The Fresh Prince of Persia’ so there are no excuses for me getting him wrong. At least I didn’t confuse Chris Rock for Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.”

This is not the first time someone has made a similar blunder on the air. Sam Rubin, a newscaster for KTLA, was interviewing Samuel L. Jackson when he asked him a question that was supposed to be directed toward Lawrence Fishburne.

“Honestly, I think Samuel blew it a little bit out of proportion,” scoffed Rubin. “I would gladly be mistaken for Lawrence Fishburne any day of the week. His body of work is amazing. He’s Neo for God’s sake! He was also fantastic as Idi Amin in ‘The Last King of Scotland.’ Anyway, I can’t take all the blame. Samuel hadn’t yelled ‘motherfucker’ once during the interview at that point.”

At press time, Taylor had also just mixed up Simu Liu and John Cho.
